2019 Volunteer Orientation and Appreciation Dinner

Wednesday, July 3

6 - 7:30 pm

All volunteers are invited to the FREE Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Wednesday, July 3 from 6-7:30 pm at the Peterson-Dumesnil House.  This is an opportunity to meet other volunteers, meet event chairs, learn about all the festival features and WIN DOOR PRIZES!

THURSDAY, July 4      10 am to 10 pm - FIREWORKS at 10 pm!

On the grounds of the historic Peterson-Dumesnil House,

VOLUNTEER SHIFTS

Most volunteer shifts are 3 hours long

FAMILY FRIENDLY

Youth ages 16-21 are welcome to volunteer without a parent.  Youth 10-15 should sign up with parent or guardian.  Check volunteer opportunity job descriptions for most family-friendly shifts.

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

CHCC will verify high school student’s community service hours when they volunteer

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION & APPRECIATION DINNER

All volunteers are invited to attend the FREE Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Wednesday, July 3 at 6 pm.   Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet the event chairs, get an overview of the festival activities, meet other volunteers and win Door Prizes!

VOLUNTEER DRESS

Put on your patriotic clothing and dress for the weather! It could be hot, rainy or beautiful weather.  Wear comfortable shoes.  Bring sun screen, bug spray and water bottle.  Put picnic spending money in your pocket and leave valuables in your car trunk.

VOLUNTEER CHECK IN

Volunteers are asked to check in and sign in at the Information Booth 15 minutes before shift.

VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENTS

Artist Check-In:  Greet Artist. Tell them booth location.  Share general event information.

Artist Check In Volunteer Shifts: 

July 3     1pm – 4pm;     4pm – 7pm.       July 4     9am – 10am

Artist Hospitality: Staff booth. Refresh snacks. Share general event information.  Offer to ‘booth sit’ so Artists can take a break.

Artist Hospitality Booth Volunteer Shifts:  

July 4     8am-Noon;     Noon – 3pm;     3pm – 6 pm

Cake Wheel & Prize Booth:  Staff booth. Spin wheel. Call out winning number. Give out prizes.  This is a good volunteer opportunity for families or youth volunteer with guardian.

Cake & Prize Wheel Booth Volunteer Shifts:

            July 4     10am – 1pm;     1pm – 4pm;     4pm – 7pm;     7pm – 10pm

Children’s Fun Zone:  Staff Inflatables and other children-friendly activities. This is a good volunteer opportunity for families or youth volunteer with guardian.

Children’s Fun Zone Volunteer Shifts:

July 4     10am – 1pm;     1pm – 4pm;     4pm – 7pm;     7pm – 10pm

Pet Contest:  Sign up contestants. Give out prizes. Help with set up

Pet Contest Volunteer Shift:

            July 4     11am – 2:30pm

Information/Membership Booth: Staff booth. Share general event information. 

Information Booth Volunteer Shifts:

            July 4     10am – 1pm;     1pm – 4pm;     4pm – 7pm;     7pm – 10pm

Children’s Field Games:  Assist the leader with fun, free games for the kids, like sack races, hula hoop contest, water balloon toss, etc.  High School Students and sports teams might be good volunteers for these games!

Children’s Field Games Volunteer Shift:

            July 4     2pm – 3pm

Cake Contest Team:  Receive cakes; slice cakes; plate and put on trays for judges; slice remaining cakes to sell; set up and clean up

Cake Contest Team Volunteer Shifts:

            July 4     9:30am – 11:30 am;    11:30am – 1:30pm

Silent Auction:  Help in the set up of the auction, assist bidders, change bid sheets when necessary, help with check out, etc.

Silent Auction Volunteer Shifts:

            July 4      11am – 2 pm     2pm – 5pm

Event Set Up and Event Tear Down:  Help Set up and put away all event features.

            Event Set Up Shift:                 Wed. July 3     9am – 1pm 

            Event Tear Down Shift:          Fri. July 5         9am – 1pm
